What we do.

Assist in student literacy development.

Many students may live in homes with limited exposure to hearing books read to them or quality books of their own. We read virtually and in person to these students and positively impact their literacy development.

Promote the enjoyment of stories and reading for elementary-age students

Reading to and with young students increases interest in and motivation to read. Research indicates that interest and motivation positively impacts students’ reading achievement.

Develop a relationship with a student through reading and conversation.

Volunteers read virtually and in person in a 1-on-1 setting to elementary-age children once a week. In some cases, children may read books with or to the volunteers.

“Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.”

— Roald Dahl
